From July 15 to 19, 2025, a delegation led by Professor Wang Hainian, Dean of the Highway College at Chang’an University, visited Chiang Mai, Thailand, to attend the 14th International Conference on Road and Airport Pavement Technology (ICPT 2025). The delegation was also invited to visit the Faculty of Engineering at Chiang Mai University for academic exchanges and research collaboration discussions. This visit aimed to showcase the college’s latest research achievements in road and airport engineering, expand international cooperation channels, and enhance its global academic influence.
The ICPT conference was initiated in 1993 by Professor Fwa Tien Fang, Academician of the Singapore Academy of Engineering and Dean of the Future Transportation College at Chang’an University. It has since evolved into a leading platform for exchanges in road and airport pavement technology, supported by renowned international organizations such as the American Society of Civil Engineers, the World Road Association, and the China Highway and Transportation Society.
During the conference, the delegation actively participated in the opening ceremony, keynote speeches, and parallel academic sessions. They delivered presentations and engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including smart aggregates, pavement performance testing, and sustainable paving materials. At the closing ceremony, Professor Ma Feng, Vice Dean of the Highway College, delivered a speech as the representative of the host of the next conference (the 15th ICPT). He introduced the preparatory work for the upcoming event and participated in the flag-handover ceremony.
Following the conference, the delegation visited the Faculty of Engineering at Chiang Mai University, where they held discussions with Dean Thongchai Fongsamootr, Professor Peerapong Jitsangiam, and other faculty members. The delegation also toured several research platforms and laboratories. Both sides expressed their commitment to leveraging this visit as an opportunity to promote practical cooperation in areas such as joint research platforms, collaborative project applications, and bilateral faculty and student exchanges.
Moving forward, the college will continue to expand its collaboration network with universities along the "Belt and Road" initiative, actively promote the organization and hosting of high-level international conferences, and deepen the internationalization of talent cultivation. These efforts will contribute significantly to the university’s "Double First-Class" discipline development and the national strategy of building a strong transportation sector.
