From March 27 to April 6, 2025, with the support of the High-End Foreign Expert Program of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, Professor Eugen Brühwiler, Honorary Professor of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), visited the Highway College of Chang'an University at the invitation of Professor Wang Chunsheng from the Bridge Engineering Department. During his visit, Professor Brühwiler was appointed as an Adjunct Professor of Chang'an University.
On April 3, Professor Brühwiler delivered two academic lectures titled "Fatigue Issues, Monitoring and Strengthening – The Zurich Railway Bridge Case" and "UHPFRC for the Improvement of Reinforced Concrete Bridges." Faculty members from the Bridge Engineering Department and nearly 40 graduate students attended the lectures. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges with Professor Brühwiler on topics such as new technologies for strengthening steel bridges and the latest research and practical advancements in UHPFRC composite bridge structures.
During his visit, Professor Brühwiler also conducted six teaching and research seminars with Professor Wang Chunsheng's team. These interactions significantly contributed to the professional growth of young faculty members and the enhancement of graduate student training quality, while further strengthening academic exchanges and collaboration between the university and internationally renowned institutions.
