Recently, at the invitation of Vice President Chen Jianxun, Professor Wei Wu, a tenured professor at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, and Director of the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering, visited our college for academic exchange.

On the morning of April 21, Professor Wu delivered an academic report titled "Recent Study on Quality of Bored Piles" to faculty and students. He introduced his team's research over the past decade on the issue of bleeding in fresh concrete, with a focus on experimental validation and mathematical analysis of concrete isolation waves in bored piles. After the report, faculty and students engaged in in-depth discussions with Professor Wu on related academic topics.

On the afternoon of April 21, the Highway College held a symposium with Professor Wu. Vice Dean Han Wanshui, representing the college, provided an overview of the college's history, scientific research, and talent cultivation efforts. Professor Wu introduced the basic situation of the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna. Professor Luo Yanbin presented the main research directions and achievements of the college's tunnel engineering discipline and discussed potential collaborations with Professor Wu in scientific research and talent cultivation.

On the morning of April 22, Professor Wu delivered another report titled "A Casual Talk on English Academic Writing." Drawing from his experience as a journal founder and editor-in-chief, he shared insights on how to write high-quality English academic papers. On the afternoon of April 22, the Highway College and the Journal Management Center held in-depth discussions with Professor Wu on the management and development of international journals.

During his visit, Professor Wu also engaged in extensive exchanges with faculty from related disciplines at our university. In the future, both sides will deepen cooperation in scientific research, talent cultivation, and academic publishing to enhance the internationalization level of related fields and promote disciplinary development.

Introduction to Professor Wei Wu:
Professor Wei Wu is a tenured professor at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, and Director of the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering. He is one of only four geotechnical engineering professors in Austria and has been recognized as one of the Top Ten Chinese-European Science and Technology Leaders. He serves as the Chairman of the Otto Pregl Foundation for Geotechnical Engineering in Vienna, Austria, and has led multiple large-scale European Community projects, including the EU Sixth Framework, Seventh Framework, and Horizon 2020 programs. Professor Wu is the founder and editor-in-chief of Acta Geotechnica, one of the most influential SCI journals in the field of international geotechnical engineering. He also established the "Springer Series in Geomechanics and Geoengineering" and serves as its editor-in-chief, in addition to being an associate editor of the Canadian Geotechnical Journal. As one of the pioneers of the hypoplastic constitutive model theory for soils, Professor Wu has published over 200 academic papers.
