On May 10, 2025, the finals of the "China Communications Construction Company Road and Bridge Cup" Chang'an University Student Innovation Competition, hosted by the Academic Affairs Office and the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and organized by the Highway College, successfully concluded at the Weishui Campus. As the organizing unit, the Highway College coordinated the entire competition, with faculty and students working collaboratively to achieve three historic breakthroughs: the number of participating projects, shortlisted works, and the scale of the event.
In this year's competition, the Highway College leveraged its disciplinary strengths to mobilize faculty and students for active preparation, submitting a total of 104 entries, accounting for 23.7% of the university's total submissions. After intense competition, 40 projects advanced to the finals.
The College's Experimental Teaching and Innovation & Entrepreneurship Education Center, in collaboration with the Academic Affairs Office and the Student Affairs Office, established a dedicated task force to oversee the competition. With the title sponsorship of China Communications Construction Company Road and Bridge Company, the venue was adorned with thematic exhibition boards and road flags for the first time, creating a vibrant atmosphere for innovation and entrepreneurship. The participating projects covered cutting-edge fields such as new transportation materials, smart maintenance, and green infrastructure, with the number of entries increasing by 37% compared to the previous edition.
As the organizer, the Highway College deeply integrated its disciplinary features into the competition. Projects like "Sand Barrier Protection: An Integrated Sand Prevention and Sweeping Device for Railway Turnouts" received significant attention from experts. After the competition, experts were invited to visit the university's Transportation Museum, deepening their understanding of Chang'an University and its transportation disciplines.
The successful hosting of this competition marks a new breakthrough in the Highway College's "Teaching-Research-Innovation & Entrepreneurship" collaborative education mechanism, injecting new momentum into cultivating innovative talents in transportation for the new era.
